- In 2019 Apollo Global Management, one of the world’s largest private-equity firms, acquired the Cox Media Group (CMG), for $1.3 billion
- CMG operates television and radio stations throughout the US and is rapidly evolving its digital media presence and expanding into new content and advertising formats
Challenge
- Apollo engaged SRI to recruit a Chief Executive Officer to lead the company who would bring both broad television industry expertise as well as a track-record of building new capabilities and launching new digital entertainment services
- In the process of conducting the CEO search, SRI presented a number
of candidates that Apollo felt could contribute to an Independent Executive Board
Result
- In the CEO role, SRI placed Dan York, former EVP and Group President of AT&Ts Direct TV unit. Additionally, CMG hired Bruce Rosenblum, former President, Disney-ABC Television Group to add to their independent executive board.
